Protonic Games is about developing your ideas to a prototype stage ready for marketing. There is nothing fancy about this and does not involve copyrights. What we mean by this is that you can borrow or steal other people’s ideas and bring it to this stage if you only want something for yourself. Copyright issues only come into force if you try to promote yourself by using logos or trade names of companies who already have copyrights, for your own financial gain (ie. selling goods). Please find out more information on copyrights if this is your intention.
If you have ‘borrowed’ a game (many games have been around for such a long time that they have no copyright, such as most that you find in a games compendium.) you want to earn money from there is nothing to stop you going ahead and producing your own but it is recommended you do it in a different way to normal. Some of these are on sale in pound shops and do not give much scope for you making much profit but if you dress some of them up by using more expensive packaging and pieces the result can be very different. Contact us if you want more details about this.
If you have a new game, this is where we will be be most helpful. Good ideas do not always make great games and games that are good for friends may not be understood by others you do not know. Before you do anything, write down your ideas on paper, stick it in an envelope and send it to yourself at home. This way you have proof you were the first person to come up with the idea and is a form of copyright. When you have done this, send us an outline of your idea. Protonic Games will then decide if the game will remain in the prototype stage or pass you on to Magico Games, who will do what they can to market your game. We may have a queue to process any game but will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Some ideas just are not possible to develop so it is best to know before you spend hours working on something that may come to nothing. However, this does not mean that combined with another person’s idea, this cannot be successful. Being the positive people we are, we want to turn any idea sent to us into a game you will see on the shop shelves.
Protonic Games will do whatever we can to make a very basic prototype version of your game. If you are convinced your game is good and want to market it yourself, by sending us your whole game idea a single version will be sent to you.
Our prototypes include fully laminated printed sheets, dice and playing pieces.
Protonic Games is not a charity. The absolute minimum it would cost to make a prototype and send it is £15 but if people send us any of the items on the Supplies page we can cut that cost dramatically by sharing out the stock we have.
